Sit on the bench. Set the backrest to a straight position. Raise the bar to chest level. Grasp the barbell so that your arms are bent at a 90-degree angle. This will be your starting position. Raise the bar above your head. Lower the bar behind your head until your arms are bent 90 degrees. Lowering the bar behind the head and in front of you counts as one rep. Raise the barbell as you exhale and lower it as you inhale.
