SIMPLE PROCESS
Step by step recipe
The most important part of this recipe is building a secure double coating. Dip each cheese cube into beaten egg, coat it thoroughly with flour, then repeat the egg and flour layers. This creates a protective crust that helps the cheese hold its shape during the short frying time.

Cut the cheese
Take 100 g of semi-hard cheese and cut it into small, evenly sized cubes. Uniform pieces will heat more evenly and are easier to coat thoroughly.

Prepare the egg and flour
Beat 55 g of chicken egg until smooth. Place 50 g of flour in a separate shallow dish. Keep the egg and flour close together so you can coat the cheese quickly and efficiently.

Double-bread the cheese
Dip each cheese cube into the beaten egg, then coat it thoroughly in flour. Dip it into the egg a second time and cover it completely with another layer of flour. Make sure no cheese remains exposed.

Heat the oil
Heat a skillet with vegetable oil before adding the breaded cheese. The oil should be hot enough for the coating to set quickly, but not so hot that the flour burns immediately.

Fry the cheese
Carefully place the breaded cheese cubes into the hot skillet. Fry for no more than 1 minute per side, until the coating is golden brown. Work quickly so the cheese does not have time to melt completely and escape.

Serve immediately
Transfer the fried cheese carefully to a serving plate. Serve immediately while the breading is crisp and the cheese inside is warm, soft, and deliciously melty.
CHEF'S TIP
Choose a firm cheese
Use a semi-hard cheese that can withstand brief heating without melting too quickly. Very soft cheeses may melt and escape through the coating before the crust is ready.
Keep the double coating
The second egg-and-flour layer is the secret to a sturdy crust. It adds another barrier between the cheese and the hot oil, helping the cubes hold their shape.
Coat every surface
Make sure the flour completely covers each piece, including the sides and corners. Any exposed area can become a weak spot where melted cheese may escape.
Fry quickly
Do not leave the cheese in the skillet longer than necessary. A very short fry over properly heated oil creates a golden crust before the cheese inside has time to melt excessively.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Add your taste
- Try another semi-hard cheese Another firm semi-hard cheese with good melting properties can be used. Depending on the variety, the frying time may need slight adjustment.
- Make it gluten-free For a gluten-free version, replace regular flour with a suitable gluten-free flour blend. The texture of the finished crust may be slightly different.
- Build a thicker crust For an especially substantial crust, make sure both egg-and-flour layers are complete and even, with no exposed areas of cheese.
- Use small cheese cubes Cut the cheese into small, evenly sized cubes. They are easier to coat completely and can be fried quickly on all sides.
HOW TO STORE
How to Store Breaded Fried Cheese
Fried cheese is best served immediately while the coating is crisp and the cheese inside is warm and tender. If you have leftovers, let them cool completely, place them in an airtight container, and refrigerate for up to 1–2 days. Reheat them in a dry skillet or oven to help restore some of the crispness; a microwave can make the coating soft. Freezing the finished fried cheese is not recommended because the crust will lose its texture after thawing and the cheese may separate from the coating.
