Beans with garlic
SIMPLE PROCESS
Step by step recipe
The key is proper cooking: sear the beans over high heat until golden spots appear, then reduce the heat and simmer covered for 15 minutes until tender. Add garlic at the very end to keep its bright flavor. If needed, add a little water or broth to prevent burning.

Prep the Beans
Wash the fresh green beans, trim the ends and remove any strings. If long, cut into 2-inch pieces.

Sear
Heat a skillet with a little oil over high heat. Add the beans and sear, stirring, for 3-4 minutes until golden spots appear.

Simmer Covered
Reduce heat to medium, add 2-3 tbsp of water or broth, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until tender, stirring occasionally.

Add Garlic and Season
2 minutes before done, stir in minced garlic, salt, and pepper to taste. Mix well.

Serve
Transfer the beans to a plate and garnish with herbs or sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot as a side or light main dish.
CHEF'S TIP
Don't Overcook
Sear over high heat until golden, then reduce heat and simmer — this keeps them crisp-tender.
Add Garlic at the End
Add minced garlic 1-2 minutes before the dish is ready — it preserves its sharp, fresh aroma and prevents burning.
Add Extra Spices
Beyond salt and pepper, try paprika, dried thyme, or chili flakes for an extra layer of flavor.
Don't Forget Liquid
If the beans start to stick or dry out, add 2-3 tbsp of water or broth and simmer until tender.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Add your taste
- With Frozen Green Beans Frozen beans can be used without thawing — just increase the simmering time by 5 minutes.
- With Onion Add finely chopped onion to the beans — sauté from the very beginning.
- With Lemon Juice Squeeze a little lemon juice over the beans at the end — it brightens the flavor and adds a fresh tang.
- With Sesame Seeds Sprinkle the finished beans with sesame seeds for a nutty, toasted flavor.

Cool the beans, transfer to a container, and refrigerate for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet with a splash of water or in the microwave. Freezing is not recommended — texture becomes less crisp.
