Finely chop half an onion and mix it into 600–700 g of ground meat along with 1 egg, salt, black pepper, and shredded cabbage. Mix well, shape into "cabbage rolls," and place them in a steamer for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, slice the other half of the onion into half-rings and sauté it. After about 5 minutes, add a diced tomato, then chopped parsley and dill, a little salt, a pinch of red pepper, 2–3 tablespoons of tomato paste, and a splash of water. Simmer until everything softens.
Serve the hot cabbage rolls covered with the tomato mixture.
Optional: you can also add some sweet pepper to the tomato mixture, according to taste.
