The 8x8 method (8 sets of 8 repetitions) from legendary Vince "Iron Guru" Gironda is a lifeline for muscles that need shock therapy. The protocol is not for the faint of heart: each workout involves a colossal volume of load in the hypertrophy rep range.

Train for two days in a row, then take two days of complete rest. Each day, perform one exercise for each body part – 8 sets of 8 repetitions. This is a full-body split with high training frequency, an excellent alternative to a standard split, especially if you have been working on a regular scheme for a long time. Rest periods should not exceed 30 seconds – this is shock therapy, you cannot lounge between sets. The goal is to get the most out of your muscles, to go beyond your own expectations and training abilities.
